Example Affidavit for purshase without ownership... Ontario Canada

Hello all. This is my first post.

I thought would stop lurking and give something back to the community, (Those in Canada anyway).

So, I just got back into sledding and decided to buy something to fix up over Christmas. My sled, (87 Indy Trail) was purchased without ownership. So after I fixed er' up I thought I would try and crack the nut of making the sled legit for trails, fairly certain that I would be producing an affidavit along the way.

I bought a used veh report from service Ontario, and saw that last registered owner owned the machine in 1996. I bought the sled from a different person in a different location. After some Google searches, I found a phone number with the last owners name attached to it. I contacted her, and she was not feel'n (rightfully so) the ass pain that transferring a sled she owned once upon a time would entail, and she said I could do what I will with it.

Moving along to the point of this thread, I produced an affidavit that knocked the socks off the lady at service Ontario, and was pleasantly surprised that I did not have to go through several rounds of corrections.

Here is a link to the document (with names and locations changed) that I would encourage others to use as a proven template. I think it is all about the tone and presentation, but it still must make sense (not selling the steak but selling the sizzle).

If this is in the wrong location I apologize.

I hope this will be of use to someone thinking about pulling the trigger on a sled sans ownership.

    Cheers all.

that's awesome, much appreciated! I have a small fishing boat that was never registered because it only had a 4hp on it. it's rated for up to 15hp, but anything over 10 requires registration, so this just may be my ticket for legally running with a bigger engine!

Cheers guys... if you would like some assistance afier prodoucing an affidavit, post a doc on a link... I could review it and edit it a bit (douche it up a little) to give it that polish that service Ontario prefers. My day job sees me in a position that is steeped in administrating documents, so I could say without ego that I excel at this sort of stuff.

    Cheers

    Rube.

Nice. I'm surprised you didn't have to get that Notarized, legally you are supposed to. Just goes to show you that the birds working in the Service Ontario centres have no clue. I went thru this trying to register my Honda 350X. I wrote the affidavit (you can write whatever the heck you want really, but common sense applies) and as long as it's Notarized you are golden. I went into one office and they told me there was no way I could get an ownership for it, went across town and they processed everything no questions asked...Good on you though for going above and beyond.

In wi as long as we have a signed bill of sale. As long as name on registration matches that signed on bill. we are pretty much golden.

XCR440... They actually had a clerk there with authority to notarize, with stamp. I had to wait for her to finish up with another customer before she could see and deal with me. It seemed legit to me.

    Cheers.

Well f#ck me! Why did I have to hustle my lawyer then. They typically charge $100-150 just to do that and they have someone at Service Ontario for that...Informative post indeed!

Hey cubiX rube. I your brother hereby state that I have finished said affidavit and am going to claim right full ownership of the safari soon. I hope I don't have to get this notarized.
