    2001 Polaris 700 RMK 144

Just picked this up today for the gf to ride. Now we just need some snow.

It's all stock except for a hps can. Sounds good. Haven't owned a Gen II Polaris in about 10 years. For how old it is its in pretty decent shape. Only paid $1000 for it.

How many miles? 1500 doesn't sound like too bad of a price. I know a local one that's listed for $3000. Has 1500 miles on it. He will be sitting on it for awhile.

Gf has to work new years so I took it upon myself to see how the new sled ran. New plugs and a fresh tank of 91 octane and a semi aggressive 80 mile ride yesterday. Haven't rode like that in 10 years. I'm a sore. Only real issue with the sled was a high idle. Once engine was warm it would hover around 3800rpm.

On my 2001 800, i had to rebuild the crank on mine at 4700. I did find a lot of remnants of a massive belt blow, so that didn't help my crank at all. Bearing slipped right off the PTO end. Had my crank guy rebuild it for $450 and then he did the water pump for me too at $150. New top end and it was $1100 when all said and done. My own labor also otherwise it would have been almost $2000.

granted i only paid $800 for it as it was blown up from the water pump belt breaking, so the $1500 you paid isn't unreasonable.

She rode it for the first time this last weekend. First time she's been on a 700. She grew up riding 440 and 500 machines. Nothing she couldn't handle.

Nice sled! My dad bought a 99 700 XC off the showroom floor, ran that sled HARD and sold it in 08ish with over 10k miles. Engine had never been touched and ran better than new, but the chassis was flat wore out. Looking back i wish i would've bought it for the engine, but i was 14 at the time so the thought never really crossed my mind.

Seems like Polaris really nailed the 5/6/700 Liberty's, or at least the ones we've had.. My 99 500 is at 9100 miles, and runs perfect(never been touched). My brothers 05 600 has 8k miles and runs perfect, but it was burning coolant and just had the gaskets replaced last week. And then our 700 which ran perfect with over 10k. A lot of trouble free miles on engines that don't get babied.
