I cannot believe how well our canola came through last weeks garbage weather.

We ended up with just shy of 4" total from Thursday to Monday, so there are some pretty big drown out spots, standing water and such... But it's finally drying out. Gonna get the planter ready for soybeans today, but I doubt it will leave the shed for a couple days anyway.

Wheat looks good, canola looks awesome and corn is just starting to poke through. With the amount of stupid puddles and muck out there, boy am I glad we got 3/4 of the farm planted before the monsoon season started. About 800 acres of beans to possibly muck in, considering I'm used to 3000+ acres of muck to deal with, that's not too bad... Haha

I'm just happy we don't have to re-seed anything.

Had adjusters look at my canola and flax yesterday, there was some that froze but it is still plenty thick that it doesn't need to be reseeded. That is a relief, hopefully done with the 20 degree nights till late fall now.

Saskatchewan could sure use a rain. Some of the stuff I seeded last week was placed into dust. Hopefully a gentile rain comes along soon.

We also made it through the frost without any major damage.

Well nothing that I know of had to be replanted from the frost. It's been ridiculously wet here. We've got about 6" over the past couple weeks. Trying to get our alfalfa planted and it's not going so good. Its been 3 weeks since anyone has turned a wheel. On the bright side, I did get the chopper all ready except for the knives sharpened. It hasn't quit raining or blowing long enough for me to want to stand outside and sharpen them. Next project is replacing half the roof and cables on the dump wagon. Not looking forward to that.

Things are looking pretty good here, it's thunderstorm season so we get those lovely things every day or two threatening to ruin the crop. Saturday was a doozy just a little north and east of us here.

This is probably the most nerve wracking time of the year for me. Generally a storm does hit us and hammers the crop up, then the stress finally goes away. When it looks amazing and gets wiped out, that hurts. Once it's wiped out, don't really have anything to worry about anymore... Haha

One of our trucks broke the PTO shaft so I snapped a couple pics of our chopping setup while I waited. Case Puma 165 CVT, New Holland FP230, Richardton 700. It rained half an inch Saturday. Our piling tractor took a crap, New Holland TS125A. It sounds like the bearings in the rear end are going out. Hauled that to the dealer and picked up my cousins loader tractor to finish.

Finished up first cutting as the rain started coming down yesterday. Had about 2 loads left to chop when it started to sprinkle. Got the pile covered and a few tires on it before we called it a day. Tried out a Case Maxxum 125 with a loader since our loader tractor is in the shop. Pretty nice setup. Might be looking at a Maxxum 125 or 140 to replace our NH 125. We are also looking at a used Degelman blade for our TM 175 for pushing silage instead of using a loader.

BigRok, you still down by Wheeler off 59 there? I'm about a mile straight line from there. Drive by BigRok almost daily on my way to the shop.

Yup, I live on the west side of the lake and obviously you know where the farm is. Where do you live and where is your shop?
