Quick Update:

The Ishpeming area has received a large amount of snow during the month of November and locals have begun riding as we have enough snow to do so. The trails have officially opened as of today and grooming should begin fairly soon as we are continuing to get more new snow. The forecast also calls for low temperatures and continued snow throughout the week.

I will update as soon as actual grooming begins but until then you may want to plan ahead as the season seems as if it will get a head start over the last several seasons.

Please e-mail me if you would like to be added to my weekly snowmobile report or you can find it online at www.ishpemingtrails.com

Thanks,

Hello All,

Just a quick update on the trails and weather for you all.

Grooming has now begun to our west from Republic into Ishpeming. The only area that has not confirmed grooming yet is Big Bay to our North. I would imagine they would begin any day now.

Anyway, the trails are in decent early season condition. You will definitely find some great riding here and now is the time to get out. I have spoken to several riders and they all have been very happy with the trail conditions.

Weather in the area has been very cold and the snow continues to fall. We haven’t had a big storm in a couple weeks but we have gotten a good accumulation of snow. the 10 day forecast up through the Holidays is very cold and snow for a majority of the days. I believe a snow storm is expected on Saturday as well so hopefully that will hit the area.

Let me know if you have any questions or anything.

Wanted to do a quick Monday update for you all:

This weekend we got a large accumulation of snow to go on top of our already solid early season base. So the trails now have plenty of snow and are in excellent early season riding condition. Grooming is now going on throughout the county and this is the nicest the trails have looked in late December in years.

The forecast calls for more snow soon and the temperatures are supposed to remain cool/cold.

If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Ishpeming, MI area

Hello All,

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.

Now onto the first report of 2009

The weather has been very cold and we have gotten a lot more new snow. The trail base is excellent and grooming is continuing on a regular basis. Trails all over the area are in excellent shape and they should be like this for a while as I dont see the snow going naywhere anytime soon.

So if you have been waiting for the ideal time to ride, this is it. The trails aren't going to get much better than this.

If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

Hello All--

Quick pre-weekend update for you all.

Not much has changged in the area since last week. We still have tons of snow, regular grooming and excellent riding trails. It has been really cold lately (as it has been all over from what Ive seen on the news). We have gotten some light dustings of snow but nothing major. At this point we dont really need it though.

Riders are reporting great conditions on the trails. So get out and ride!

Let me know if you have any questions on anything.

If you would like to be added to my weekly e-mail trail report just shoot an email to: report@countryvillageresort.com

Hello all,

Following up with another quick report for you all.

If you haven't made it up this way to ride yet, now is the time. The trails are great! We have gotten much more new snow over the last week and the weather remains cold. Bad for those that live here but great for the trails. :)

Grooming is still continually going and overall the trails county wide look excellent. If you have any specific questions on anything just let me know and I will do my best to help.

Hello All,

Quick Update:

We continue to get more new snow and have gotten several more inches in the last couple of days. The weather remains cold and the trails are getting groomed regularly. All the feedback I have gotten from riders has been positive. Most of them have said these are some of the best trails they have ridden on in a while. Now is the time to get out and ride as the trails aren't going to get any better than this.

if you have any questions on anything, just let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Hello All,

Just wanted to give you an update. I waited a couple of days to see how the whole rainy weather affected us.

Well, the last few days it was warmer (30's compared to -0) and we even had some rain. But it isn't as bad as it sounds as we have several positives working for us:

1. We have a huge amount of base.
2. Most of the trails have good tree cover to protect it from the rain.
3. It has now returned to normal weather and snow is falling.
4. As soon as it gets real cold the trails will seem unaffected.

So, from talking to numerous riders I am hearing that the trails are still very good/excellent with a couple caveats. First, you need to be aware there are a few easily avoidable slush spots currently. Just keep your eyes open and no problems. These should be disappearing fairly quickly as the weather returns back to normal. Second, snow cover on roads is low but this will not affect trail riders much if at all.

Let me know if you have any questions. As I said, the trails are still great and very ridable, caution is just recommended in certain slushy spots.

Hello All-

Well, the weather has returned to normal around here. Cooler temperatures have returned along with a winter snowstorm warning. It is snowing right now and up to 18 inches is expected tonight.

Trails remain in excellent shape with grooming happening regularly. All riders are reporting excellent trails throughout the area. So if you have been thinking about coming up to the area, now is the time. Or come back for a second trip as the spring will be here before you know it!

Let me know if you have any questions or anything.

Hello All, time for a weekly update:

We have had nothing but more cold weather this week and snow. To top it off not only did we get snow last night but we got a lot of it! Now our already excellent trails will be even better. These are some of the nicest conditions you will see during February or all season. And don't forget we still have March riding to be done.

Trails all are reported in very good to excellent condition but most of the riders I have heard from have reported spectacular riding conditions.

An interesting news story is that we are already talking about breaking our areas record for the most snow during the winter. Check out the story here if you are interested:

Hello All, time for a weekly update:

We had some warmer weather this weekend and lost a little bit of snow but not enough to hurt the trails at all. Still plenty of snow on them. Some corners may be slick but otherwise they are still in good riding condition overall.

Also, we are getting new snow right now with more expected all week so any snow we did lose is getting replaced right now.

Excellent trails to be found and 3 weeks left to the season. Hope to see you all on the trails.

And here are my usual helpful area links. Let me know if you have any questions or anything you need help with.
