1996 Polaris Indy Ultra SP
I just bought a 96 Ultra SP. The sled came full of mods... PSI Modblaster pipes, V-Force reeds, SLP heads, jetted and clutched accordingly. I took it on the lake to open it up and proceeded to burn up the center piston. I found a defect in the carb boot where it had to be cut to fit over the V-force reeds so it appears to have been letting air in and leaning out that piston. After inspecting the other boots I found a crack in one and the same cut issue on the other. Is it likely that what I found with the boots is what caused the piston to melt down or could something else still be the culprit? I checked the jets and they are 410s. Iím pretty sure stock is somewhere around 340 so they definitely were increased. My fear is that I will put new parts in and have them blow up too. Iím riding at sea level.
