I had the engine all apart before but its been a few years since it ran. My question is: does this engine have points or electronic ingintion?I jumped the injintion switch and the tether and kill switchs too.I also put a meter across lead to coil and when I pull start it its seems to have juice.Anybody have some ideas to help me out. Thanks

I'm not an expert but it should have a magneto. When you spin it, it creates power.

I'm not sure, but I think the ignition switch would need to be "open" to run. Atleast thats what I do to my 89 polaris & the other older sleds we have. (when I cant find the key!) I just remove the plug from the switch.

Where's all the snow??? Grass is still green. :-(

Trace the wires from the coild back. If they connect to a "little box", that id you CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition). There should be a single black wire coming form that box. That is your kill wire. If you disconnect that wire, and give her a pull, you should have spark. My '76 Yammie had this ignition, as do every other sled that I have owned since.
