Hi, I just became a Polaris owner after 10 years of Arctic Cats. The Arctic Cats never let me down and I hope I can say the same for my latest sled.

The sled I bought just had a professional rebuid and the case drilled. Was there a meltdown problem with these engines? Also, how often should the Fox shocks be recharged? Thanks!

Same exact sled i have. I love it. As for mine, I have only had the shocks recharged twice, once in 98, and once last year, and I didnt notice a difference, so i am thinking about waiting 3 years to do it again. I ride with a lot of XLT owners, about nine, and i have never heard one bad thing from them about 'em. Is it piped? clutched? Gotta love the triples sound and high end!!!

Hi and thanks for the replies.

Everything is stock on my sled, the person I bought it from is very meticulous about his stuff and he just spent $1500 on this one in March (New Klimpex track, engine rebuilt) He fell in love with another sled so now this one is mine.

Hey, another question, what do I tap into for my heated shield?

HEAT SHEILD.......Polaris switched this on us!!!!! On the older sleds, 95 and older, the wire that ran to the headlight that was yellow with a red stripe was for the brights, on the newer sleds, 96 and newer, yellow with the red stripe is constant 12 volts. i am 99 % sure of this. To check and make sure, start up the engine, and do a voltage test on this wire, once with the dims on, and once with the brights, if there is no difference in voltage, its your constant. USE THIS ONE.....I AM ALMOST ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SURE....check it though

The XLT's didn't have a meltdown problem the way the RXL's did. They burned the middle cylinder quite often but by 1993 Polaris fixed that. As for the shox's , My brother recharged the fox shox on his XLT every fall. It might not be necessary but it doesnt hurt anything.
