Well apparently my flywheel is frozen on the crank shaft. Three different shops can't get it off, so I told the shop where its at now to go ahead and cut it off.

My question is, does anyone know how many magnets there are on the underside of the flywheel. Three or six? I believe I need to find one with the same number as the one thats on it.

Anyone?

Tfin70, hey good to see you back, did you get any snow in your area? not here.. some places got 6 or 7 inches tho.. like danford, parlin pond, dover foxcroft, etc but u said flywheel is frozen? man thats not a good sign, you just put new parts and all not too long ago right? I heard its about $1,000 to fix flywheel issues.. depending on the circumstances and how badly , etc

Yeah, I've been real busy with work and all. We picked up about a 1/4 inch of snow in the Waterville area. Its all gone now, but it was nice to see it falling! Won't be long now.

They just can't pull the flywheel off, its frozen on the crank shaft, so they're simply going to cut it off with a cutting disk on a hand grinder. I just need to get a used flywheel, and need to know how many magnets on the underside there are for my application. Some have three large ones, and some have six smaller ones. I've seen used ones for only $25 or so.

I certainly hope we are, if this week was any indication we will.

Last year kicked azz compared to the year before. All in all I think we had a pretty good winter last year.

I just can't wait to frickin' ride again, this time of year makes me crazy!

Still wondering if anyone knows how many magnets are under a 97 XLT flywheel. Three or six?

Here's a picture with a part no. Maybe if you called a salvage place like central snowmobile http://www.centralsnowmobile.com/Central/homepage.htm or indy snowmobile http://starpages.com/indyss/ they would tell you.

Sorry can't be more help.
