Well I think I finally came up with a plan as for what sled I'll ride this winter. Lately I've been debating between an IQR or a ProX (if ProX preferably an 04 XR). I just had a guy offer me an 04 Pro XR440 complete nice sled for a great deal, so if I get this then I would pull out the 440 and drop in a 600VES. But here is where I need some help, what if I didn't drop in a 600 but a 500 instead? The reason being is I have two nice 500 VES engines and no 600 VES right now. What ever I do I want it to look stock. So if I use a 500 VES, can I use the 440 exhaust? Also I want to use the stock air box, so what carbs do I use? I will use the 500 CDI and wiring harness and I'll also have to look for a place to install an oil tank.

I wouldn't use the 440 exhaust with the 500 motor, I wouldn't want to take any chances. A 500 Motor would fit in the chassis, the problem you have to worry about is getting the proper pipe that can arch over the shock tower. But since Polaris never made a 500 Pro-X, there is no such thing. The normal 500 VES pipe can't get over the shock tower.

That's why I was wondering about the 440 pipe. I've seen post where people have used the 440 pipe on the 500 VES, I was wondering how it has worked out for them. I figured I would sell my Boss Edge seat to buy a Rev seat and tank to put on this sled also.

read up in the 440/race section on HCS.. There are people running the 440 IQR pipe on 600s....People say they run fine but not to potential. There is also someone you can send your 440 pipe to and he will modify.....Let me know if you can't find it.

Well I have another question then, I'm looking at buying a sled to part out and it has a 600 VES with twin Dynaport pipes. Does Dynaport use different 600 pipes for the EDGE and ProX chassis?

I feel really dumb, because I can't find pipes on their site for a ProX 600. I can find them for an XCSP EDGE but not a ProX. Is it because they don't make them for a ProX or is it because I'm blind.

That is a nice sled, but not at all what I want. I don't like the Liberty Big Blocks and I love the 440 chassis. When all is said and done I'll have a mint 04 ProXR 600 or 500 for a fraction of that price. thanks though.

Do you mean you ran an after market 440 pipe on your 600, or did you have your stock 440 pipe modified for a 600?

Stock 440 pipe modified for a 600.

Theres guys on hcs that have just ran the stock 440 pipe with no modifications to it. Here's a nice write-up for swapping a 600 in the pro-x. The 500 should be pretty similar.

ssracing, if you ever decide to put a 600VES in the pro-x, I have a stock pipe for a 600 VES Pro-X. It is in extremely nice shape, I believe it might be new, or at least have very little use. If you go this route, let me know. I may or may not have it anymore, will be posted on CL very soon.
I don't believe the Pro-X chassis uses a special silencer compared to a regular XCSP chassis.

Thanks a lot, that was a great write up. I'll use the 440 Y-pipe though, that way I don't have to change the brace. It looks like I'll probably use the VES 500 now. Thanks again.

Thanks for the offer, if I change plans and decide to use a 600 instead of a 500 I may take you up on that pipe. That thing does look brand new. The way I am I'll probably change plans at least 4 more times before winter.

Yup, you should be fine with the 440 exhaust. The 440/500/600 all use a very similar dimensionally bottom end. Carbs you will have to try and see. They will be in the exact same spot, but not sure how the 500 carbs compare to the 440 tmx34's. You definitely want to use an airbox though, pod filters kinda suck. I wish I didn't have em!

Well I went and picked up the new project today, here she is. And now I need to pull the engine, carbs and wiring harness and replace with my VES 500 and 38mm rack carbs. After that I'll pull the seat and tank and install a Black MXZX Rev Seat and tank combo. 201082318739422_23919.jpg 201082318810219_23919.jpg 201082318842829_23919.jpg 201082318912204_23919.jpg

Right now I haven't decided what I'm doing with the seat and tank yet. I'll let you all know when it comes time, thanks.
