Well its coming along ok. I needed a break.
The aluminum I modified cracked just a hairline when tapping it. That is ok. Now that is what JB weld is for haha. I have some on it and on the heater to cure it faster. I will replace it monday when my new friggen axle gets in. It would probably be fine with the very slight crack but I JB'd it just in case. Man don't get dyslexic on that one. HA!
The gear on the left is my stocker (non hyvo), the gear on the right is the hyvo one out of a newer poo that I had machined down to fit my sled. I got that installed and fits great. Couple that with my custom top hyvo sprocket and the new hyvo chain and I hope to have no more ratcheting. I also have the ski's back on.
Now.. Now to put this damn skid back together and get it installed. I wish someone was closer that could help me out. Its going to be a bitch to get in.
my hyfax is in and carbides that got here just in time this afternoon are going on. matt i will bring you some cotterpins me thewayout440 and indy_500mod's brother is replacing him he will be riding a mach 1. we are gonna leave here at 7am cross oneida lake and run the north shore trail up to meet up with steve and he will escort us to brendans house
^ Thanks! but no need, I just went thru my cotter pins and way down in the bottom there were 2 that will fit. One went right in (new bolt) the other one is giving me crap. I will drill it out at 5 a.m.
So, windshield installed, chaincase converted to hyvo with 2 custom sprockets and hyvo chain, skid fixed for now (made my own axle and bushing), ski saddles repaired with jb weld and installed and new bushings. And I did all of that today! 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Blows!!! But hopefully tomorrow will be problem free and I can reap the benifits even though I am already sore as hell. All in the name of blood sweat and gears. I will be bringing a tow strap just in case.
The only thing I cannot find is my balaclava!!! I am going to search in the morning but if someone has an extra or some kind of neck covering can they bring it just in case. If I don't find mine I will be screwed hardcore.
My track seems to be a touch loose from my adjustments, I was having a hard time tightening it. I will bring tools with me just in case. I just test drove it up the trail here and back.. no problems to report.
I am hoping we are not going over any lakes tomorrow. I didn't like that very much last time.
Dan is meeting me here at 6 a.m. and we will be off and heading north!!!
TUGHILLfever and I are out.[!] TUGHILL's sled lost spark at the end of the day today about mile from the truck up by the Lanterns. If we get it running early enough we will give Brenden's cell a call and try an meet up with the group at lunchtime. Looks like first stop tomorrow will be Houden's in Barnevold in the AM for a stator...[!]
Time for some blood, sweat, and gears from you guys. I am assuming you have checked the obvious stuff and have deducted it to a stator. If it is the stator you should be able to get it fixed quick and back in action. I needed a flywheel puller on my sled when I yanked the stator. I PMed you my cell number. I will have my gps and have our coordinates if they are needed.
