ok....it is the wifes and she loves it, just wants it a little faster. so all you guys that used to race these what is possible.

That engine should be pretty well maxed out from the factory. Gearing and clutching would be the way to go depending on what you mean by "faster"

faster off the line or fast top end? Gearing will be the big no brainer here. one less tooth on the top gear for more holeshot or one more tooth on top gear for higher top speed.

Clutching can be done, but that will only make a difference in holeshot. Not to mention you have to the tricks and then tune and test until you get it where you want.

Its a fan cooled machine so there aren't as many performance options out there. Like said, your best bet would be clutching and gearing. The odd company may make a pipe for it.

I know Madcow did some testing with an Aaen pipe on a 550 and he said he was impressed. May be worth a pm, he's very reasonably priced on Aaen pipes also.

shave the head, port the cylinders and case
this will make a big differance
i seen a 550 built by one of the polaris coperate guys that had 86hp on a dyno
