Did one of you guys/girls already heard/make this swap. One of my friend just buy an 800 storm 1998 and hes going to drop it into his XCR 600 1996. Anny tips or ideas?

look for the motor straps from a 95 storm. they are made for that crankcase into that chassis. then just get clutch tool that tells center to center distance and alignement. the clutching out of the 98 will work just fine. the pipes should fit. but it might be tight. other wise it would be no big deal to have htg or crankshop modify there pipes to fit. or you can go to priceperf.com and get a set of blanks to fit yourself.

a piped 800 in an old wedge frame!!! a few light wieght parts like hood and seat, a nice track and some shock upgrades all around and you would have one wicked fast nice riding trail sled.

The earlier storm 800 wedge pipes should bolt right in. The agressive body storm pipes will not fit a wedge without major work. Not worth it.

Actually, his 600 engine is blown, he found the 800 engine for only 500$ can. He is going to rebuilt his 600 later and make a lawn tractor racer...[;)]

check it out, just him back and he told me that finally he made a trade with the guy. My friend give him his SLP pipes for the entire engine + the pipes... check it out!

oh i see that would be a good reason. when i blew my 600 i had to use a '91 650 but that only cost me $150 us plus i got a xtra 10 too :)
