Hey all [:)], new to the site. I have a chance to buy a '93 Indy 650 RXL for $500. It's a tripple with three pipes, a chip, new track, and the body is in excellent shape. The engine was just rebuilt and is out of the sled. Should I jump all over this one? I've never dealt with older EFI sleds.[?]

Either that's a smoking deal or there's a catch.

How'bout carbide, belt, ski, and slide condition

Original shocks (may need to be replaced) or are they rebuildable (may need to rebuilt)

Check rear idler wheels for frozen ones or excess play

All the electrics work (lights, hand warmers, etc..)

Does the steering feel tight

Does it just plain run good?

Just some things to think about. Now for $500, you could just ride the thing into the ground and get your moneys worth. Hell, I spend probably on average $200-$400 (this year I spent $500 (skiis, belt, slides, shocks)) a year maintaining mine (still cheaper then payments).
