I just got a 93 xlt pretty much for free and I think im going to do some amatuer drag racing with it since i have a trail sled. What would be a good clutching and gearing setup for it in a 500' race? thanks
i had a 95 xlt with the toughboy kit form slp so it could handle turning 9000rpm with the pipes, clutching what worked for me at sea level i had the 10m white weights and the polaris almond round spring in the primary and in the secondary i put a polaris silver/blue spring in the third hole of a 42/36/34 helix. i ran 21/37 for gearing for more topend stock should be 21/39 so for 500' it is up to you, i would try droping 2 teeth on top first so 19/39 sounds good to try. i never raced for 500 i always was racing in 1/2 to 3/4 miles. oh ya dont run any after market belts HPX is ok but i liked to run polaris #3211066 it is a top cog belt.
