just bought a 97 xc 600 basicaly stock with a dg exhaust and was wondering how much horsepower it put out. Does the exhaust really make that much of a difference?

The exhaust won't give it any extra power. That engine should be in the 95-100 HP range though.

DG exhaust- are you talking triple pipes or just a can with the single pipe? Stock hp is around 92 for that motor- triple pipes add around 20 hp, the can adds nothing.

the 95 and 96 xcr had 92 hp but the 97 xc came w 97hp, same motor w a few changes, if it was built later in the year in 96 it has a better motor with the crank issues adressed.
