Hey Guys,
Things are really picking up nicely around here, good to see.

Just wondering if it's a big deal that the airbox is tight around the carbs or not.

I'd imagine it is.

My only thought was to pull the rubber boots off and dremel some plastic off so the boots will drop and line up better. They are out by about 3/8".

Anybody have a better quick fix?

I would say it is important that they have a snug seal. Otherwise, more air is entering carbs and will cause a lean condition. If it is a stock setup, I would check to see if there are any obstructions(wires, fuel line etc.) that are keeping it from fitting properly.

I know on my 98 XC 700, I have to wiggle the box in their to fit the rubber boots around the carbs, try tipping the carbs up alittle with your hand so it gets the angle good to fit into the air box, hope that helps.
