Here's the Alloutte Brute

I need to know what model sled I picked up. It is mostly original but the seat is recovered. I looks like the sled above but has a single drive track. the chassis is grey, it has the same skis like in the pic above, the seat flips to the side and no decals to be found on it. the engine cover is grey fiberglass and has louvers. the motor is a 340 sachs twin

thanks for any help will get the chassis tag numbers off it tomorrow

I know the time I looked it up on the david's site my particlaur chassis number was not listed in the brochure for 73 ?

Sorry for the poor quality using a friend's camera

the tag says 73 30 1

Did not see that listed in the sources I checked, but the other thread said to see if the motor was a sachs sa340 'C' or not

which it isn't

any body got some parts or a whole sled they do not want?

In 73 Alouette used the 340 Sachs in the Sno Brute, Escort 3 and Eliminator 340. I don't think it the Sno Brute because the seat was fixed to the tunnel. My bet would be the Escort.

Good advice. The escort model in the first page 676 has regular leaf spring front end and the hoods do not match mine? Also the sled was grey originally, even though someone half heartedly sprayed the chassis black in spots.

The eliminator series has the same skis and hood, is painted grey as well, but the engine side panels do not have all the louvers cut into the sides?

What is a little confusing is my ID tag is 73 30 1. When I first got the sled I looked at this brochure page in the link below.

http://vintagesnowmobiles.50megs.com/PP5596.html

Shows the list of sleds and their ID numbers, but it skips from 32 for the middle number to 29 and no 30 is shown, yet that is what my tag says

Does anyone know if the escort came with an hd 89 carb? Did they make a sno brute 340 in limited numbers?
Do all alouttes have a single drive track like the ones in Yamahas?

Thanks everyone for the continued replies to this thread!

I just looked in one of my old snowmobile manuals and the Eliminator 340 and Sno Brute 340 both came with a HD88A which is probably no different the HD89A. The Escort just says HD with no #'s. Not sure about the tracks.
