We have a group heading to Bessemer in the last weekend of January. We have to cancel 21 days before if we decide not to go. What do you think the snow conditions will be? Should we be worried?

No problem. They get snow regularly, and it WILL get better, I'm confident... Although it's not my money ;-)

I was up in the UP by Newberry the day after x-mas and riding was preetty damn good.. I have checked the trail reports daily and they are getting beat up since then. They need more snow as of now, but people are still riding.. hope it helps.. also check out http://www.michigansnowmobiling.com/. They have links to most areas and usually get updated daily..

Trail reports for Ironwood/Bessemer area are not good. If you go to the following link, you can sign up for a daily trail report to be emailed to you:

http://www.westernup.com

Also, check out the site http://www.johndee.com

John is a meterologist who is an avid snowmobiler. His forecasts are usually pretty decent, and he's got snow coverage maps, text and graphic-based forecasts, webcams with pictures of the snow, etc.

Hope that helps. If you have reservations at one particular place around Ironwood/Bessemer, you may want to consider making other reservations somewhere further north and east like Houghton/Hancock. I think Lake Linden has around a foot or so on the ground right now.

Hope that helps. Let us all know after you get back how good or bad it was!

Thanks, I do check JohnDee a couple of times a week. They extended our cancellation date a week, so we will see what we end up doing. Even if there is snow, everyone and their brother will be up there.

Go during the week if you can, so you can miss the weekenders. I guarentee a zoo there on the weekends... Epspecially if the north central US doesn't get any snow by then.
