Yeah, you don't HAVE to go to the UP to get great snow.Burch said:I live in SW lower Michigan (Cass/Van Buren County), and although the trails are not the Upper...we do have some snow. The trail system is actully pretty darn good. We are in the snow belt, no doubt...8+ by my house, 12+ closer to the lake and a little north (South Haven up to Holland, I'm closer to Sister Lakes area)....plenty of gas and food stops as well as drop points. Check out the Snow Stompers club site (www.snowstompers.com) or Four Flags (www.fourflagssnowmobileclub.org)...they give a trail reports...groomers were out Monday night. You can ride from South Haven all the way down to Niles/Edwardsburg.
They are calling for another 2" over night (24 deg and snowing now, mid teens next two nights), warmer Friday maybe drizzle, then cold again and more snow Saturday and Sunday..more lake effect hopefully.
Like I said, it is not the UP...but it ain't half bad either. I'd guess about 4-5 hours away from Midland.
Just a thought...
