I just picked up my ZL 600 EFI SS and I love it. I can't wait for snow! Anyway, one thing that I would like to do is to change to a white gauge much like Ski Doo uses. Has anybody taken apart the gauges? I've made white overlays for car applications before, but before I start screwing with the new gauges, I wanted to know if they come apart fairly easily.

I don't suppose there are any aftermarket gauges or gauge overlays already available?

I don't have an answer for you but I would also be interested in this same thing. It seems to be the one thing that arctic cat overlooked.....although they do look quite nice when lit at night. Also why did they only go to 100 MPH? I will be watching this topic closely.

I've searched the net and I've searched any magazine ad that had a web address, and so far I've found nothing. I did find that Black Magic offers a speedo that goes past 100mph, but otherwise I've found nothing.

I may contact companies like Auto Meter and VDO to see if their mechanical speedos could be easily converted or if by chance they're already compatible. I'd also like to find out about what it would take to use their tach on a twin. Then I'd just have to make a pod with new idiot lights, but they are probably just descreet signals anyway, so that would be very easy.

Thanks for the info!! I will try to see what I can find out, although I am not that thrilled about ripping apart my new sled.

if u find anything out bout it, post it right away. white gauges kick ass. do ski doo's gauges turn black at night w/ just the numbers lit? i konw the vehicles that have em do. i think the reason that AC's gauges only go to 100 is cuz they figure we dont need to know how fast were goin after that, sept were goin fast. Why do they put a redline after 50 anyway?

Think Snow...hell...might as well think lots of snow!

Another little thought i wanted to add is, If you for some reason are going 100+ MPH, then you better keep your eyes on where the heck you are goin, not your gauges, cause you travel A LOT of ground in one second at that speed. If your goin that fast all you gotta do is make sure that your the one out front
and your buddies are eatin some serious snow dust.

Both Arctic Cat and polaris are based in MN. The speed limit within MN boundaries for all snowmobiles is 50 MPH. Maybe this has something to do with it...

Yeah I figured this was it but just thought it was funny to see a new 800cc twin with a red line at 50 MPH....that's practically just off idle! hehe

Yes I would say. At a 100mph you're traveling an 8,448' in one minute and 140.8' in a second. Ouch you best be sure nothing is comming or in the way to look at the guage or splat.
