Could u tell me the procedure to adjusting this style drive on my ZL800esr. I see no manual adjuster. Just something that looks like a dash-pot.And if you do have to tear-down to inspect, how often? Thanks C/M
I have the auto adjuster on my sled, this year was the first year I took it apart and saw how it worked. It is basically a lead screw the in tensioned with a spring and will advance out if necessary. There is also a spring loaded plunger on the end that is used for the flex of the chain under normal operation.
The system has more than enough travel to cover all the adjustment needed about an 1 1/2 - 2 inches.
It is also lubed with the chain case oil so it moves pretty freely, when I took my chain out to remove my jack shaft the thing wound right out no problem by itself.
I trust the system so I will be checking it every 2 years, with the Hyvo gear system should be no problem.
