Being a newbie still....

I've charged the battery on my wifes 97 Ski-Doo LE last month.

Yesterday we went for a "test ride" since we got some nice snow all day Saturday!

Anyway...it was a little on the cold side and even though her machine did turn over it was ssllooww.

My 98 SLE which has not been charged died after cranking a few turns.

I started mine using the pull rope.

Once both sleds warmed up - I shut them off and then restarted both - they started on the first crank.

My question is - Does the battery charge when the engine is running? I didn't notice any alternator when looking at the engine.

it charges while in the machine, and the charging system is built in to the motor, it under where the pull rope housing is, thats where the lights get power and handwarmers, if you battery sat all summer they need to be maintained like charging them every so often to keep them up
