Just wondering what the best skis for watercross are. I thought the 5.7 pilots would be better than the Precisions, and they really aren't.

Also, a video of my first skip of Summer 2010.

the best things you could possibly buy would be the c&a minis or the small powermadd skis

I know people that run stock skis but on mine I have wide mountain skis, I believe the narrow skis help you turn better but the wider ones help you skim better

I want something that will let me turn without the ass end coming around. I know the suspension setup also helps, but still

My hat? The only "hat" I wore in that video was a helmet.

I was gonna try to skip my zl, I don't think it's got enough power. Mini skis are the best, I've also noticed that a lot of local watercross guys run stock ski setups.

The first person was Gaige, the 2nd was Barret.

Empire087, your sled will skip just fine. Keep up on the throttle and speed and you'll be fine.

Sean, let's see you do a circle on that lake. At least a little more carving on the water[:D]. The water is just like deep powder but you can get away with less counter-steering. If you're just going to do straight-aways like in your video, a wider ski will help with flotation. I skipped with my Slydog powderhounds last spring and the deep keel actually worked like a rudder. I could turn smoothly while sitting and without leaning/counter-steering. I wish I had fresh-water to skip on. Im not going to do anymore salt-water skipping with my F7[Disappointed]. It's too rough on the suspension parts/joints.

Your ZL WILL skip just fine. Just give it plenty of speed until you get comfortable with it. Make sure you silicone all the gaps on your front-end especially on your clutch side.

Ouch. Salt water? I dont even like bringing bringing cheapo walmart bikes by the ocean, let alone my sled.

And yes, I plan on learning how to do circles as soon as the pond goes down more.

Here's the pond on Google.
POND LINK, CLICKY

Here's a depth map of it as well:
