Just wondering if it's possible to upgrade from my Magura brake (crap) to either WilWood or the Hayes/Polaris brake on my XCR. If anyone knows anything about it anyway.

I thought if you wanted to upgrade you went to a larger piston? One possibility is a hydraulic motocross clutch, or a newer Cat brake. Steel braided line helps too

Nope, with a larger piston, it will increase the amount of force used to brake. It also will increase flow which really isn't needed. Smaller piston means that there is a more concentrated area so you can push the oil harder with less force by your hand.

Well, I got a WilWood brake, installed it, now my brakes rock. I'm very impressed.

I got that Magura too. Did you just get a Wilwood master cylinder assembly and new brake line? I'm very interested. Are all Wilwood the same, and also, how much do they cost??? I'd like to upgrade.

Just the master brake cylinder.

Not even new line, all you gotta do is unbolt the old brake line, take your handlbar grip off, slide the old assembly off, put the wilwood assembly on, attatch the line, add fluid, make sure air is out of the line, replace grips, there ya go. They are far more touchy than those Magura brakes. Amazed me with the difference.

I forgot in my first post

The master cylinder cost around 175 Canadian dollars.
