My sled has 34mm carb on it and it is a 95xlt sp with a 598cc engine and my dad has a 97xlt limited sp with the same size engine and has 38mm carbs would his sled work if he put on 34mm carbs and would it work better.

I would assume it would "work", I'm just not sure how well. I would think that smaller carbs, would mean less fuel and air, which then translates to less hp. So why would you want to do that?

Good question TWIZ...I have a similar concern but the exact opposite of what you are asking. My sled had 38mm carbs and I'm replacing them with 40mm carbs. Will this cause plugs to foul more often. If so what do you do to compensate for that?

The minimal amount of power gain that you will gain isn't worth all the trouble of getting the jetting dialed in.

yes it would work, it might even help make the bottom end more snappy. you might lose a little on top end but what you might gain for clean up on the low and mid for the trail might be more of a gian.
