I have a 98 ZR 500, stock. According to the owners manual, the clutch should engage at 4500 rpm. But it actually engages closer to 5000 rpm. I am wondering of the previous owner did modification for better hole-shot, but not sure. Any thoughts as to whats going on? Should I be concerned? Thanks much.

I guess I don't have a concern. I took another look at my manual and it says ZL 500 engages at 4800 rpm. I was looking at ZR580. There is no listing for ZR500. The ZR and ZL have the same engine as far as I know. I dont expect the tach to be exact, so I think I am OK.

Should be fine. Tachs can be off as much as 500 rpm.
