As you all now i have a 1989 indy 500
...........
The clutch kicks in at about 4000 rpms
a little high. not clutched as far as i know
i cleaned it all up and now it kicks in at about 3800 rpms

but i want it to be normal it has a gold spring if it helps any?

I dont believe the gold was stock. Cant remember but I thought it was dark blue. Someone here will remember

its supposed to be a blue in ur primary and a red in ur secondary

I have a '98 Indy 500 and it came with the gold primary. It kicks in around 4000 rpm so sounds like you're fine. I wouldn't think 4000 is too high though, given peak peformance is around 7800.
