last year after i bought the sled the belt was too tight and i couldnt ride it and i didnt have time to mess with it, so i pulled the primary clutch off this weekend and there are no spacers in it, http://parts.polarisind.com/Assemblies.asp its number 14 on the diagram.
polaris website above shows four different spacers sizes. .020,.032,.050,.025mm. but doesnt tell you which one it uses just says it takes 4, 3211075 is the belt im running which is stock on this sled. the spacers are cheap i just need to know how many and which one of the 4 sizes it takes,
any help would be great. thank you

Try a 3211065. I think if you have a Gen II 600, the correcty belt is a 065. It's a 1/2 inch longer. That may solve your problem.

And your link isn't working for me, but I believe you may be talking about the spider shim spacers? They may not be in there, and if you are running the wrong belt, that would make the difference.

this is my sled, ive used it for all my references on other parts that i needed. it shows the 075 as the right belt.

yeah, stupid link. its a 2000 xc sp with exhaust valves. you just have to click the drive train to see the belt size, or drive clutch for the primary clutch. its the one in my profile pic.

Ok, the edge chassis calls for the 080 belt, the EV chassis, calls for the 075, they both have exhaust valves. I am kinda stumped on which sled you have, according to the polaris parts site, there is an evolved(exhaust valves) edge(valves again) and a deluxe. Yours appears to be a genII like Dman says, by the pics it looks like a genII with an extra 10 suspension?

yeah its a gen II. with extra 10 with fox shocks. im pretty sure i have the right belt but not so sure the clutch i have is the one off of it. somebody might have just put one on it to sell it, it came from auction. i replaced a cracked cylinder on it when i got it so who knows. i put the right spring in the primary cause it had the wrong color when i got it, the belt would clear when i put shaved weights in it out of one of our race sleds but it was still snug. stock is 10-56 and im runnin 10-58's shaved down just seems too me if it had those spacers in there that it would let the clutch come out all the way and loosen the belt. i put another pic up in my gallery of it, cause i couldnt figure out how to post it on here.

Then you need the 065 belt. Where did you find that in the polaris parts link though, it doesn't show a genII for 2000?

The spider shims will make the belt side to side clearance more or less, if you have the wrong belt on it, that would be your problem. You want like .020 side to side clearance between the belt and the sheaves of the clutch. How does it act at idle, does it want to creep? Have you adjusted the secondary for belt tension/deflection.

yeah thats my sled, and it wants to roll away at idle with the shaved weights it would at least stay in one spot, with the belt being too tight you cant just up and gun it or it bogs even if you feather it you might only get like 60 out of it. compression is good on all cylinders and i just replaced the exhaust bellows and yeah i adjusted it both ways its either way too tight that you cant start it or it roll away at idle. but you dont think it should have any shims in it? would be an easy fix too just buy a new belt.

Do you know anyone that would have an 065 belt you could try? And yes some shims may be good, but you need to get the correct belt on it first, and then mess with the shims. Mine has shims in it, but mine has to much side play, and it runs just fine. I do believe your problem is the belt, but I would try to find one you can try before spending the money on a new one and it not being right. My wife and I both have 99XCs, both have big block twins in them, and both are GenIIs and take the 065 belt.
