I have a 99 500 xcsp, just recently studded and installed a after market canister, as I can not afford a clutch kit I installed a yellow performance secondary spring. It is in its original third hole, but was wondering what the other three holes are for? Added, I would like to install a primary spring other than blue stock for better engagement, which color should I go with, again this is because I can not afford a clutch kit? Thanks.

Sled Dog is right, if you make the spring tighter the rpm's will go up approx 200 RPM, if you make it looser it will make the rpms go down about 200 rpm.

On your machine, I would try a Almond/Red primary clutch spring, it will bring your engagement up but not mess with top end.
