I have a 90 prowler, 440 liquid cooled. I do not trust dummy lights so I would like to convert to a gauge. Can I do the conversion to the gauge, and still have dummy light operational as a redundant system?
This is a video that shows how to basically how to replace the idiot light with a temp gauge. You'll get the general idea and should be able to hook up a temp gauge after watching it. Just don't screw up like I did and accidently try to put the gauge in from the wrong side and end up making the 2.5 inch hole larger. Oh well.
I like the digital temp gauges from Koso. there $50 but its worth it imo
its sitting on top of my gauge pod in the pic but i have it all mounted up with velcro now and i drilled a hole and ran the wire down in.
i had a mecanical one and i didn't like it.
I installed one last season and love it. Make sure you get a gauge that starts at 70' I found mine at summithttp://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/Cyberdyne-Gauges/Product-Line/Cyberdyne-Gauges-Digital-Blue-Ice-Gauges/?autoview=SKU and I also found this adapter at Dennis kirk http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=E53JSUZWKHYC5QFIDYFCM4WAVAPAQIV0?store=Main&skuId=408509&mmy= hope this helps. I will have pics latter I need to go to my shop and take some. Also painted the bezel to match stock gauge. Good luck
