I was bored so I figured out how much this sport has cost me to go 0.7 miles this year.

3000 for the sled
300 insurance and registration
65 trail pass
200 tax
17.50 gas
---------------
3582.50 to go .7 miles
which equals 511.79 to go 0.1 miles this year, so at this rate it would cost me 5117.86 to go 1 mile

Nice, I have spent less than $2000 I think this year on my sled, and I have 50 some odd miles recorded. This may not seem a lot, but I didnt have a speedometer cable for most of the two weeks I have owned my sled, in fact, I have done all of those 50 miles in the past two or 3 days, and that is a lot less riding than what I did the first week I owned it.

I thought I had it bad...about $500 this year, ($7500 if you include th cost of the sled) and I've gone just shy of 400 miles. I can't believe all the hidden costs (trees!!) you don't realize you'll have to deal with in the off season.

HEHE, here in NY, we have groomers on trails 3 times a week, and all we pay to use the trail is $10 a year for club dues, and sometimes do some work for a local farmer to use their field. [:D] Plus, my sled reg & ins is only $50 a year combined! Bout the first thing I can find NY is cheap at!

My expenditures for 55 miles of riding YTD is zero so far.

Still on same tank of gas from last spring.

Insurance expired, didn't bother to renew this year.

Reigistration good till next year.

Sled paid for back in '98.

Still an expensive sport though. In fact, I would say it's the most expensive hobbie there is, considering that if you keep your sled more then a few years, it's pretty much worthless after that.

Yeah, mine looks about the same as bigwilly's. Bought a new (to me) sled this year for my daughter, trail permits, insurance, etc. etc. etc. We've put on about 300km so far this year. Hopefully I'll get some riding in next week; I have March break off from work.

You forgot one, bigwilly; keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle until ride comes to a complete stop![8D]
