I run the SLP SLT skiis on my 97 XLTsp and am VERY happy with them. Undoubtedly, your XLT must tend to dart and track rather badly. The SLP's pretty much eliminated that. The steering is also very light feeling now. I was able to back off almost all the front pre-load which would give you better rear transfer.

I would think the C&A duel carbide would be pretty aggressive. Make sure you stud if you get those. I'm not convinced that a recreational trail rider needs that aggressive of a ski.

Here is link comparing a test using the C&A and the SLP. Although the skiis are tested on a F7, it should give you some ideas.
