not a bad system for 8 grand!
http://www.portatree.com/media/ccp0/html/pdf/07-ProfSnow2.pdf

here is the system i have. i just need more eyes to make it a complete kit. with 2 eyes you have a car battery run a light bulb, when the sled crosses the first beam it starts the clock and when he crosses the second beam at the finish line it stops the clock.
or you can put the two beams at the end of the track to make a box. then it will tell you speed for that run.
add a 3rd beam and you can have a timed and mph run.

8 Grand is way out of my price range. I've heard of simple tree systems for under $1000. Anyone know where I can look at one online? I don't need speed sensors or anything. Just a control box and a tree with wiring to hook up to a car battery.

make one. all you need is some wire, a switch, a car battery and either 12v light or a converter to go from 12v dc to 120 ac. then paint the light green and put a box around it. a couple hours time a few dollars and your done.

A 'stop',staging, 'go' light to release two sleds at the same time is what im interested in. Making one does sound pretty easy...but I don't have that kind of time[Disappointed].
