What symptoms would one see if the drive clutch spring was weakened and worn?

Well if it were the mainspring, the clutc would engage too soon. These usually dont wear out too often.

What kind of sled do you have, & have you done any modifications to it??

DNO.
Last year I learned that my spring was weak and worn when it broke.

Other than engaging too soon, I dunno of any other way of detecting it.

Do you know your engagement RPM spec.? If it engages sooner its weak. Also you can take your spring out and stand it next to a new one at the dealer, if its shorter its worn out and should be replaced .And, if its not doin' anything to worry you, run it till it breaks. You can usually run on a broken one if you got to!!!
