just got a sled that has a 12 vdc cigarette lighter stle plug...i have a electric shield...im wondering if i got one of those cigarette lighter to rca style plug....will my shield work safely on dc from batery,better than a/c from regulator.....any help?

electric shields are made for 12vdc.

They run on both A.C. and D.C.
Those cig. to R.C.A. adapters don't always work right. Had one on my Yamaha and it kept popping out of the cig. lighter.
Put a R.C.A. jack in and you will be a lot better off in the long run.
Been there, done that.

ok I have been corected...so which is better ac or dc for the shield? longevity?

AC works quicker, DC lasts longer(we're talking about thousands of hours, however). Hook it up for AC, you'll be much better off.
