I have a 1995 XCR thats prob gonna need an engine rebuild soon. I also have an available 93 650 motor with good compression sitting around. Is it possible to swap these two motors? If so, how difficult is it and is it worth the time?

Yes I have seen lots of XLTs with the 650 motor in them. And since an XCR has the same motor as an XLT, it shouldn't be a problem. However I don't know how serious the modifications are. I assume it must be relatively simple since the combo is somewhat common. It probably won't be a drop-in deal but it would be close

Use the engine straps from the xcr and it a bolt in deal. A buddy of mine did this swap 2 years ago, its cake and well worth it.

heres his 95xcr bored 90 over, light weight rods, wiesco pistons, psi pipes, bored carbs 39.5mm, spins 9300rpm, the sled just rips

yeah i have a 94 xlt special and i droped in a carbed 88 indy 650. i think the hardest thing doing the swap was the coolant lines. i had to splice and make my own hoses and bends without it hitting my exhaust.

this thing has tons of power! i kept the stock xlt gearing and with the extra power of the 650 i can pull the ski's rite off the ground no problem. this thing is a rocket. i did some mods to as well like the motor is bored, ported and polished, piped and jetted it has a 1 1/4 camoplast preditor track thats fully studded. since i took the pictures of it while it was purple the whole sled has been painted jet black with red accents. its sharp looking and fast.

the swap is worth it in my opinion. id recomend that if you put in that efi motor that you get a hold of a guy on here and re-map your computer. it will help out a lot on the bugs and issues the efi 650's had. just a thought.

oh and you can use the stock 650 brackets that bolt to the motor. they are the same. its a drop in.

Cant use the 650 straps on the xcr chassis, the motor sets lower on it and the 650 straps just wont fit
