i have a 1988 yamaha exciter 570 and when u rev it up and u r riding it and u stop and try to let it idle it just starts to backfire and it will die then it is hard to get started again i have cleaned the carbs and they were clean any help would be appriciated thanks

Popping out the intake is usually ignition & popping out the exhaust is usually a fuel problem. When you checked carbs was the idle circuit jet for sure not plugged? If machine is stock start with a 5/8 turn out from all the way in on the idle mixture screw. Thats factory starting point. Just before you come to a stop, put the choke on part way. If it improves that means your lean on the bottom end. These things like to leak air into the crank case at the crank seals throwing your fuel mixture out the window. More noticable at bottom end. You should carefully look at plugs and see if you can tell if only one cylinder is whacked or both. It will help narrow it down.
