has anyone ever dreamed up the perfect sled, using different parts from all the current manufacturers?

Hmm, not really. I can't imagine what I would come up with if I could use Ideas and parts from other companies.

VIper engine, triple pipes, ZR suspension with high bars and wide boards, ZR 800 track. That is about it really. But it would have to have the viper front body cause it is just too unique :) oh and A arm front end

Id like to try my hands out on one of those Sno-Hawks? Not sure if that's there name but they got one ski and look like a dirt bike, those look like some fun!!!!!!!

"Ride It Like You Stole It"
i'd personally start with the engine (naturally), and i'd probably have to go with the tries and true polaris powerplant, probably a 600 (maybe a race 440). that's plenty of power to kill myself with. the front suspension would probably have to use a-arms. if ski-doo (and possibly polaris) is going to it with their mod sleds, there must be something good about it. as for the rear skid, i'd want yamaha comfort with polaris or arctic cat durability, so it's kind of a toss up there. the console area would be arctic cat, cuz their new handlebars flat out rule! i would adorn mine with ski-doo grips though. give me any one of the 440 race sleds running boards, but put polaris's heat exchangers under them please. the track would be the new 1.36" snocross track, but leave it 15" wide for me. as for the seat, i love the look and feel of the new pro x 440's, so that'll work for now. the hood design could go to anyone, but the sweetly aggressive look of the yamaha srx's (or whatever they're called) really turns my crankshaft, so i'll take that too. give it too me in red, white, and blue with a full 13 gal of gas and let me ride!!!- what do you guys think? how would you do it?

well I love it and how many new sno pros have you seen in person? how many on the trail? :)
point well taken sled dog. although the only viper i've seen was for show at a grass dragrace. haven't really seen much of anything on the trail yet this year......haha

'99 XC SP 500
well that just adds to my point though I have seen a bunch on the trail they are still a not Very common thing.

The viper front isn't unique, the A/C sno pro's look almost the same.

On the trail, no vipers because ppl don't want to pay so much money for a 700 triple. Yamaha needs to face the fact that triples are going out of the scene.

I am not really a viper fan either, sure, they probably perform good, I am just not liking how they look. I don't really like the looks of the new sno-pro either and I hate the new ski-doo race sled, very ugly.

I myself prefer the triples. They run smooth ,get good mileage, sound the best and have long legs out on the lake. You can't get the hp out of a twin like you can out of a triple.
The Viper must not be to bad looking since thier was more sold than probly any other model this year.
I'm not just saying that because I ride a Yamaha,I think they all have great sleds and i ride and work on all brands.JMO.later rpm
anyway, this isn't a twin vs. triple topic, or a viper vs. everyone else topic, so might we get back on the subject?

perhaps unique is not the right descriptive. Would distinctive be more suitable since unique it is not.

back to sleds:
i'd like to try a 2002 Edge 800 RMK chassis and drop in a Genesis 1085 cc V.E.P. twin from PSI with all the typical mods you'd expect: porting, pipes etc....pushing 225+ hp. the BOSS light weight seat, 156" track, simons flex-i-skis, CMX drive system, roller-secondary clutch, and modify in some A-arms from the ski-doo, *clicker type gas shocks, hmmm............an avalanche beacon and collapsable shovel would help too.

this is just for starters......lol
My intentions are for deep snow of course.

Let it snow!

Dude, you build that sled and you are my hero!!! I wouldn't have said it better myself. And make whatever you can out of titanium for the ride back down through the trees!

I must say I do not like the new Ski-Doos. And it is still unique(the VIper). Sure 2 sleds have a similar design but both of them are not very common. How many SnoPros did I see riding? none. How many Vipers? like 5-8. And my dad got his for $6800 and I have heard of ppl getting them for similar prices. That is about the cost of a ZR 800 so I don't really see what this being an issue. Our local dealerships sold a bunch and this area is not a snowmobile area. We get like 5" of snow at a shot anymore then it all melts.

Polaris Edge chassis with 02 SnoPro 440 engine and a polaris built sno-x skid with 13.5" x 128" track. Then a hood with dual headlights similar to viper, but far enough off to be original.
