well it's from when I played Quake (the original) in a clan, the musketeers.
I wanted something to sound menacing, so I chose "ripperd".
But when I signed on to yahoo for email, and on AIM, there already was a ripperd. hence the 2. it's stuck for a few years now, even though I havn't played quake in a very long time.
anyway, I set the max dir size to be 50MB. That is flexible. Just as long as no-one abuses it, ie, pictures only, no porn, and file sizes are reasonable (0-300KB should be enough for a nice image)...
Sorry guys, I stopped running the ftp service on my box, because people thought it was cute to DOS me....
I know it's not snowmobile-fanatics members, i'm sure it had something to do with being listed as a non-ratio server in audiogalaxy
Nothing was damaged, just my http service was down due to a lock up for a day (i wasn't home). Everything has been up for a few weeks, except I won't run my ftp server. I may find a better one, but for the time being, if you want me to host pictures, you can always e-mail them to me... (unlimited attachment size - the pro's of running your own servers). In fact, most pictures can just be attached since the newest version of these forums has a handy little attach button on your posting page ;-).
But for those videos and what-not, attach them in an email to me, and I'll put em up!
Ok guys, i got off my lazy butt, and looked and hopefully found a more secure FTP service.... Use the same information as the post at the top of this thread, and it should work!
And no more mp3's on this server, that was prolly why it was DOS'ed in the first place, not SF's fault...
EDIT: Also, as far as file size limitations, there is none. THe only consideration I have is my bandwidth, and if your using my site legitamately and honestly, you have nothing to worry about. Now, if you post a 200MB DIVX of some porn, and it gets a bunch of hits, i will remove it (after I watch it ;-)).
