I am just wondering if any body has had experience with this belt. It is a Gates Extreme. It is for my 85 indy 600. The only problem is it seems to be wider by a quarter inch than all my other belts and doesn't have much of a taper. It is the right belt according to Napa auto. Will it be all right?
Thanks

I run Gates Extremes in my sled, however they seem to be the same size as the cat belts. I am kinda lucky on belts, never have blown one (knock on wood).

I have run Gates Extremes for many years.
IMHO They're one of the most reliable belts out there.
As far as the specs. go, they would have to be identical to your factory belt.
Could it be that your Cat belt is just worn down that much?
If you're unsure and want to play it safe, get a new Cat belt and compare the dimensions between the 2.
The angle of the sides of the belt are very critical as that is where the contact is made between the belt and your clutch sheaves. You want to ensure they're the same to maximize the contact area.

Yeah...Gates belts are good, but the size difference is scary. Investigate well...

I tried different belts and found that the oem belts always work best, they may cost a little more but they are always the proper size, every time.
