HAHAHA, I am in a good mood tonite! Since I am joining the Marines, I have $50,000 saved for college that I won't need to use! Plus with my 1200 a month......drool.... I just went down to my Ford Dealer and bought me a 1999 F-250 XLT. Its an extended cab with a 6-3/4 foot box, has the 7.3 Litre Powerstroke Diesel (500 ft. lbs. of torque, STOCK!) with a 6-speed tranny. That son of a #[email protected]%$ has power out the ears! Once I get stationed, after I graduate of course, I will sell my XLT Special and buy me a nice shiny.....um....not sure yet. This is where I could use some advice fellas.

Anyway, Now I am not so pissed that it isn't snowing, ya?

Not much of a Ford man, but sounds like a sweet Truck!! Tucker just got a 2002 F 150 Harley Davidson Limited Edition!!
Looks like the 2003 Harley edition ford will be a crew cab and have the lighting powerplant with the eaton supercharger on it, only with a little less boost from a larger pulley on the charger (which can easily changed to bring it up to spec!). Sounds like something I might look at!

Not much on fords but their diesels are kick ass trucks. My buddies truck(same as yours) does 55 in reverse. His is either same or a 2000 but it is a nice truck. Except he has crew cab. 17 years old and has this truck. Lucky kid I tell you.

What the hell kind of screwed up gearing does ford put in it's trucks that let them do 55 in reverse? That is the gayest thing I have ever heard!
Wouldn't you want to be geared for pulling power in reverse? Dumb I tell you.

yeah it does nice burnouts in reverse too. Assisted by speed bumps :) We were doing 35 in the school parking lot and hit one of the many speed bumps and the wheels lit up big time when the found ground again.
Who cruises through a school parking lot at 35 in reverse? Sounds odd to me. Actually who cruises in reverse??? Oh well it's still pretty funny.

Trees don't make the greatest brakes...
what can I say lot was empty except for me and a bunch of friends. We also poured R/C car nitro methane in the gas tank of a 301 and the Ford Diesel I mentioned before.
Just a guess, but you have a lot of time on your hands?

not really just a bunch of guys who enjoy that kind of stuff

Man, I wish I had a new truck. You said that is extended cab? You should put tunes in it. Spend about $2000-$3000 on tunes and then you will be good to go!

you really should put a Superchip in that. i don't recall the exact power gains, but i know it is unbelievable with the power stroke.

I do plan to put a nice BOSE system in the truck, I also plan to put in a propane kit, which will put the damn thing near 750 ft lbs of torque! OH LORD! As for the chip, I am not much for technics in a truck. In a suped up Honda Civic like my cuz's, I would mess with the comp. but not with a truck. Not as much gain as in a car. I also might put on a 4'' SuperFlow Exhaust. yummmmmmm!

I just checked the chips. Through BD Performance, I can get 35hp and 45ft lbs of torque but the damn thing is 600 bucks! The propane kit is $500 and I get 100+ HP and over 250 ft lbs. The truck hauls our 30ft camper up the hills like I have a cinderblock in the back end. I am going to have to put new tires on it 'cause I smoked em pretty bad last night. I was goin around 7 in reverse and slammed the clutch, put her in 1st and she sqeeked and whined for close to 4 seconds.

Yeah, won't that be nice
FYI Bose does not make any aftermarket car audio products, only OEM. And that is a good thing, because Bose sucks, plain and simple. I have owned several cars (95 maxima, 98 maxima, 94 camaro) with bose systems in them and they were all horrible. There is a saying for Bose....no highs, no lows, it's gotta be bose! If you would like some recommendations on some REAL audio equipment, there are several people on this forum, including myself who are big into car audio and can make good recommendations.

OK, you got me IA, i wasn't exactly serious about the system, BOSE was the first brand that came to mind. I know Sony makes crappy speakers and Orion is OK, but I really need some advice on the audio, any help would be appreciated. My old truck had weak speakers but the Kenwood CD Player I put in it made the most of them. The system in my truck now is good, but I need more bass and clarity. It just has a 1 Disc stock CD player.

For aftermarket speakers, I swear by Infinity! They are by far the best. I have the Reference style of speakers, you canb go the better route but for the increase in money I cannot tell the difference. Check with http://www.crutchfield.com they have some of the best customer service, their prices are ok, not the best but good. For a head units, I have always used Kenwood's. They perform awesome, and have great reliability. No for an amp and subwoofer, go the best and use Rockford Fosgate. Best setup is to get the sub enclosure from Crutchfield for the super cab, add some Fosgate subs, a 5 channel amp, and there you go.... Some thump and good tunes....

Although your recommendations are all good, they are be no means even close to the best. In my eclipse I have the high end Infinity 6X9's (Kappa 693.3) and I am not impressed with them at all. Most of the time I fade them out completely and just listen to my MB Quart Reference series components. I use Rockford Fosgate Amps and for the money they are hard to beat, but once again they are not the best you can get. I have always been a huge fan of Jl Audio and I have yet to hear a set of speakers that can surpass them. Their new amps are also great, but can be a little spendy. Many people swear by image dynamics (which I use for my sub). Focal and Diamond Audio are two very high end speaker makers. As for decks, I like Sony ES, and Pioneer Premier (which is what I have). The biggest thing about ANY aftermarket stereo is to make room in the budget to have it PROFESSIONALLY installed by a reputible installer. Even the most expensive stereo can sound like crap if not installed correctly. Not only will everything look much better, it will sound better as well and last much longer. Just STAY AWAY from the Chain stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc...) and you should be ok. Just ask if you want more help with model numbers, prices, etc. just give me a holla!
