Harleyguy, I had a very simular unexplainable lack of steering on my 96 XLT. It occurred after stopping at a Traven on a cold night. The sled would not turn. This had nothing to do with the beverages that I consumed.I taced this to a failed front shock that froze. This would not allow the weight to transfer thus it handled like a dump truck.

I was a bit nervous ripping apart my first suspension, so I tried a neat tip. I went on to Ronnies.com and printed off a microfiche diagram first. The when I had to put it back together, I knew right where everything went, right down to the washers, locktite, etc. Really made me alot more confident that when I put it back together, it was done right.
