My brother has a 1997 Vmax 600 SX with 2300 miles. He is the third owner of the sled. The problem is when the sled sits for exteded periods of time it won't start. Even trying to use the choke. He has to spray starting fluid into the airbaox to get it going. The previopus two owners did the same thing. I have therories but i'm hoping someone here may have the answer.

There are two stages to the choke lever, make sure you go to the second stage. Might also want to check and make sure that there isn't too much free play in the choke cable, if there is the choke enrichment plungers are probably not opening far enough.

Stay away from starting fluid......it's not good to use in my opinion.

thanks for the replies. like I said, it's been like this since day one from the factory. choke cable free play wasn't one of my theories but I will try it. Why not use starting fluid on a 2stroke?
