Headlight Bulb

I have a 1999 Yamaha, the only problem I have is that the headlight bulb is not very bright. Can I change the bulb from 55/60 watt to a brighter bulb? Will the system handle the increased load, and would the brighter bulb be to hot, and melt something in the housing? Has anyone else had this problem?

i think for your sled they make the xenon bulbs... same wattage but they have a higher reflection power or sumting do to with the way the gasses in the buld react with the light... they look sweet too.. blueish tint.! and i think u can get new bulb housings that have different reflecction patterns that make it better... clean it to inside that can help... thats what i do on my truck

Duct tape much like the force... it has a light side, a dark side.... and it holds the world together!
Contrary to popular belief, the Xenon bulbs that he speaks of are not brighter....many tests have been done to prove this, the blue tint actually kills the light output. You should be able to go a little brighter than stock but I wouldn't go crazy, otherwise you will be mealting wires and switches!

u wont melt wires unless you exceed their max level for output... normal wires can handle alot... and switches NEVER almost never melt... yes u can up ur wattage and make it brighter.

Does the yamaha's have a glass lense housing, because that is another thing you would want to be careful of if it is plastic....It's easy to melt stuff, trust me I have seen it happen! Piaa bulbs are a good choice as they actually are brighter, but they are expensive! Also you can find HID kits that are the best you can get, but those can run like $500. That is what I want to get for my Cat!
