From what i understand a steeper first angle equals more off of the line. Howmuch of a differnence will 8 degrees make?

Off the line would be great. Not sure if the 440 could pull the 46 on the top end.

I think you'll find he can't pull the 52 degree. Which will result in a bog just over 5000 RPM.

I would try it. Those 440"race" sleds can pull a steeper helix since they engage around 5-5500 rpm's.

The question is, is it a race sled or is a detuned 440?

Most if not all of the mid to late 90's 440 race sleds were not detuned as the newr 01'+ were.

There really were no race sleds back then, they were production models that they raced. They did add bracing and the other good stuff but most of that was removed when they sold it.
