My dad is ordering studs for his 05 700 XC SP w/M10, it has a one inch track and we're thinking the stud legth should be about 1.25 or so, Well woodys suggests that we run 1.075 which is just a tad it more than 1/16 of an inch taller than the lug. Can that be write, if so, would anyone suggest running something along the lines of a 1.175 instead?

I have a 1" track on my pro x and use 1.175 although they reccommended 1.075. The lengths are usable length not overall.

Make sure you understand how Woody's describes their stud length. Some companies use overall and some use length above track base. it makes a diff. Woody's lrecommended lengths should give you about 1/4-inch protrusion, which is what you want. (3/16 to 1/4-inch over the paddle)

Yuper, Woody's studs are measured from the top of the backer to the tip of the stud. So the "stud length" can't be used to determine how far the tip will protrude above the paddle with out considering the backer thickness.
