I have a '85 SRV 540 and I am trying to take off my primary clutch, I already have the main bolt off, its just getting it off the shaft thats giving me trouble. Can anyone give me any pointers as to get it off? Maybe heat it first? then tap it lightly off? Any hlep appreciated, thanks.

The first step is to get a clutch puller for that machine. Thread it in where the clutch bolt goes and the clutch will come off.

try getting 3 friends over and see if they can help. try to hit it with a rubber mallet while listening to metallica. that usually works for me.

YES YES YES, i would reccomend having a large hairy freind walk around and watch everyone else do the work, and also the most important part, dont forget to lube the crap out of everything.


p.s. if you dont lube = you lose.

Also i forgot to mention, try to use random useless shop tools that you have laying around, preferably a wooden handle to and axe to pry it off. i know you have one.
