Ok, so here's the symptoms. Maybe someone with more experience working on these things can help me isolate.

2007 Yamaha RS Vector Mountain ES. First Ride Saturday afternoon at Turquoise Lake near Leadville CO elevation ~10,000 ft.

About 1.5 miles out, partial throttle, 25 MPH, sled backfires and dies. Attempt to fire to the starter. I let it sit there for about 10 minutes and it started up. Made it a couple of hundred yards down the trail....same thing....backfire....dead. Attempts to restart look like a bad ignition switch.....wont even turn the starter.

Lift the hood, wiggle the wires and sometimes it'll start, sometimes it won't. Very difficult to reproduce.

I'm assuming that there has to be a good circuit through the battery at all times or there won't be enough current/voltage to feed the that right?

I'm going to take it to the dealership for work but would like to have a clue what's going on anyway. Any input would be appreciated.
