I just bought a 91 indy 650 RXL EFI
so far I added ski skins, bottom line 4"carbides, a headlight cover, windshield flares and modified the air filter box to utilize an amsoil maximum performance air filter element. the stock filters are suffering from dry rott.
I need advice on suspension upgrades and how to add heat exchanger protection so I can add some studds to the track!
What does RXL stand for?
help!!!!
Snow is on the way!!!
thanks

when i put studs on my last sled which was a 94 XLT all I did was go to the Polaris shop and get two tunnel protectors and riveted them on under the seat. i don't know how to tell you where to put them, they could probably explain it better than i can. good luck!

tunnel protectors mount under the seat, so youll have to rmove the seat, fairly easy thing to do, should be 2 bolts in the cargo hold in the rear of the seat, as for exchangers, are they located on the underside of the runnin boards? if so, i wouldnt worry about it, ive got a spiked track, and my exchangers are on the runnin boards.

I don't believe Polaris actually had an acronym for RXL. Just looks cool on the side of a sled.

nice sled. That suspension will need to be rebuilt. Only thing you want to do to it. Nice

I have this sled. I put a new track, 200 studds on and all i did was drill out the pre drilled wholes and dropped the suspension down to the last notches. I put a efi chip in mine and dg pipes. it is like a whole new sled. had it out last night and the thing is absolutely scary. i am running a stock blue spring from polaris and 410-mw weights in the primary clutch. if you are thinking about ungrading i would first go with pipes and a chip but that is spendy.. i have no tunnel protectors on mine. Doesn't seem to be that big of a problem. I have heard that you can stick a rear 10 susp. in it. Don't know if it is true or not???

You should be able to drop an xtra-10 rear end in that pretty easliy and I would do it. They ride way nicer than the ones that they came with. You might need to drill out a few rivits and move the mounting plate a little. Other than that, it should fit in nice.
