I've got a few polaris sleds but one in particular is rather slow and feels gut-less, runs great but not the power im looking for coming out of a 488 trail sled, anything will help

The 488 fan was a good engine in the INdy but was down on power due to it being a fan. Clutching was the best effort along with a lower gearing (less top end though). That made them snappier but not faster.

Make sure the clutching is in good shape.. worn out clutches rob horsepower.

What he said above. !!! Build the clutch both primary and secondary..New ramps, springs, bushings etc... And Alignment !! Make sure track spins nice free and in alignment... All the H.P. in world is USELESS without good clutching !!!! It is ALL in the clutching and smooth rolling track if motor is tuned good....

Do a china marker (Grease Marker pencil) test on BOTH clutches. See where the marker lines runs off UNDER RIDER WEIGHT !!! (NOT) on a jack stand revving it.
